Whats number 1? Football!

Did you hear the earth shaking news? No, no, not that unimportant mad cow business, terrorism or that what-do-you-call-it, oh yeah, the primaries. This is actually meaningful. The LSU Fighting Tigers won the national championship (or half of it, but don't tell anyone out here that)! Clearly God has smiled on this great state and there's no way we'll sink back into the same economically depressed backwater we were before January 4 because we got (1/2) the title! Woo-hoo! (Speaking of God, several church changed their schedules for services because of the game)

So yeah, we had about 1000 reporters out of a staff of 50 covering every angle of the game and every ounce of vomit expended by drunk Tiger fans. A shooting, carjacking and possibly fatal car wreck? No, don't worry about those, we need you in the office for the game.

The highlight of the night? After the game was over, at about midnight, I was sent out to Academy Sports store, which had opened to sell LSU championship apparell, marking the first time in the 300 year history of this town that something has been open past midnight.

Well, not only was there no parking, but there were about 500 people lined up out of the store to buy t-shirts that would be there in the morning. Because, you see, football is the most important thing - ever.
