Hey honey, lets take the kids to see the buildings blow up
Yesterday I was assigned to cover two building implosions in downtown Baton Rouge. I thought little of it, other than, "Buildings imploding sounds cool." It turned out to be the biggest event in Baton Rouge for quite some time. People showed up before 8 a.m., when it was 30 degrees, to snag a good seat on the steps of the State Capitol (which offered the best view of the implosions). Camo-clad families came from all over (I met a woman from Memphis and guy from Gainesville, Fla) to witness two rather ordinary buildings come down. Maybe this is why Nascar is so popular here, I just don't know.
